Warm up: Exercises 1&2
We spent the majority of this lesson learning initial exercises, however we spent the last portion of the lesson creating a list of "given circumstances" that have been decided either by the writer or from our own deductions from the text. We began by reading the stage directions, these tell us crucial pieces of information about the characters, costume, setting and period. We then analysed the lines and found any expositional information. Finally, we had a list of facts about our character and big their immediate and overall circumstances. From this, we could gauge the second part of the exercise, the opinions. These are decided by the actor but are grounded in what has just been discovered. A final copy of this can be found in the "Approaching the Script" post.
